Food

We have been taken care of extremely well in these weeks away from a real kitchen and our usual routine of meals. Since we are guests of the Asbury Inn (though staying in Seminary housing behind the Inn) we are allowed breakfasts every morning.  Even though having the same thing every morning and maybe not your preferred choice isn't always very exciting it certainly makes life easier. Wes likes cereal and sausages. Jack likes hard boiled eggs or waffle and cereal. Lillian likes cereal often oatmeal and a bagel with jam. Kyle like a waffle with peanut butter and jam. I like a bagel and cream cheese. And we all have a yogurt usually. Unfortunately the coffee offered all day was not up to par so Kyle found a cheap maker on the Asbury listings and some mugs at a thrift shop.

Monday and Thursday Kyle has meetings from 3-5:30 followed by dinner for all.  We are very grateful that they have included the whole family. There is a kids table, complete with crayons and different toys each night. Kyle and I get to eat dinner getting to know the others in the Seminar. Our chef is the wife of the Seminars director.  And she has some amazing recipes. We've had: Meatball Sub casserole, Salad Buffet, Lasagna, Tortellini casserole, and dessert- cheesecake, Oreo crumble, ice cream sandwich cake, iced apple bars, coconut cream cake. I'm forgetting some but you get the idea.

The first Monday we also discovered that since Panera's usual donating site is closed Mondays they drop off their day-olds to the Seminary student center. Today I got a tomato-basil loaf and some asiago cheese bagels. Both will be yummy for sandwich making. Kyle declared that the tomato basil loaf makes the best grilled cheese.

Being away from Texas in the summer usually means being away from blue-bell ice cream too. But the soda shop in downtown Wilmore (three blocks away) surprised us by using it for their milkshakes, cones, etc.  The experience there was less than good but no worries because we found a Culvers (frozen custard) in the next town and a Bruster's too (Jack and Wes get free cones there).
